Tideswell Dale

Buxton and Edale Joint Snatch Squad called to assist the air-ambulance with a collapsed male casualty. 

As team members were arriving at the rendezvous In Wormhill a further message was received with information that the casualty was already on the aircraft en route to hospital.  No further details yet available.

Lathkill Dale

Buxton Team was called to rendezvous at Monyash for an incident in Lathkill Dale. A 62 year old lady from Matlock had been walking in the dale when she slipped on the wet grass and sustained an ankle injury. 

Heavy rain and strong winds hampered the rescue. Yorkshire Air-ambulance attended the scene but because of poor visibility and the early onset of darkness it was unable to remain on site. Team members took over the first aid treatment and lifted the casualty on to a mountain rescue stretcher.  In pouring rain the steep evacuation up the side of the dale towards Haddon Farm commenced.  En-route additional …

Kinder Scout

A full team call-out for Buxton and Kinder MRTs with assistance from five Edale MRT members following a 999 call to the police from a group of four adults lost in the low cloud on Kinder Scout. 

The four young men, between 25 & 27 years had become disorientated in the middle of Kinder plateau after visiting Kinder Downfall.  The group, three from Nottingham and one from Bristol,  had been camping near Ashbourne and went to Edale for a days walk on the moor.  After crossing the moor in reasonable weather they set off back towards the southern edge when they were enveloped …

Cave Dale, Castleton.

Buxton and Edale joint snatch squad called out following the report of an injured mountain biker in Cave Dale.  The accident had occurred following a night of heavy rain which had turned the popular Limestone Way into a river.

The teams rendezvoused near to Castleton Youth Hostel to make the one kilometre ascent up Cave Dale.  The injured 44 year old man was an experienced mountain biker from Reading in Berkshire. He was treated on scene by East Midlands Ambulance crew and team first aiders for a suspected fracture of the right femur.  Following …

Eyam Moor

A joint Buxton/Edale snatch squad called to assist a 72 year old lady out walking with a group from the University of the Third Age. 

A total of 18 members rendezvoused at Sir William Hill and walked to a position overlooking Bretton Clough where the well equipped and experienced rambler had suffered a knee injury.  After treatment by an Edale  rescue team doctor, the lady was carried by stretcher for the 1 & 1/2 kilometres back to Sir William Hill where an ambulance was waiting to transfer her to hospital.
