Happy New Year and thank you!

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team wishes to extend a hearty “Happy New Year” to all its members and supporters.

Thank you to all those who have helped in anyway to make 2013 another successful year for the rescue team.  Everyone who has generously made a donation of any size into one of the team’s red collection boxes has helped to maintain the community service offered by the team.  Without the unseen help of so many people and organisation who had given so generously throughout the year the work of mountain rescue teams simply could not continue.  The knowledge that the team has …

“32 lives saved by BMRT – and all before lunch!”

Every year, Mountain Rescue teams across the UK are asked to leave their places of work or home to provide free volunteer led services for those walkers, climbers and outdoor enthusiasts, who through no fault of their own, have found themselves in need of help in remote and wilderness locations. Sometimes these people have simply lost their bearings, become benighted or exhausted, but in many other situations they could be the victims of injury ranging from relatively mild skin lacerations or sprains to extensive life threatening polytraumas resulting from falls from height whilst climbing or loosing footing …

Dove Holes shows its community spirit

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team has had a base in Dove Holes for almost 24 years. It’s a village about 3 miles out of town that straddes the busy A6. It’s probably fair to say it’s an outside contender for best looking village in England.

Under the grim exterior though, it’s got a lot of heart and spirit. Some of which was recently extended to the team when – once again – it presented BMRT with a much appreciated donation. The funds had been raised earlier in the year, at the splendid Dove Holes Carnival, which was held over July/Aug.

Buxton Brewery Company, a micro brewery just over the road from our auxiliary base at Buxton Fire Station, has created a new brew especially  to support the rescue team.   Available in cask and bottles from The Old …
