A busy day for the team with another full team call out, again with Edale Mountain Rescue Team to an injured female walker towards the top of Grindsbrook Clough. She was escorted down to Halfway Rocks then placed on a stretcher and carried to Edale Village.
The team was called to assist a 53 yr old lady from Chinley, who was walking a dog with husband and daughter and slipped and broke her left ankle on a footpath deep in Fernilee Woods. She was treated by EMAS ambulance crew and evacuated in the dark on a mountain rescue stretcher up the steep wooded hillside to the main path and to the waiting ambulance. The lady was taken to Stepping Hill hospital by EMAS.
Incident on the Monsal Trail. Male suffering from dizziness. Two BMRT Team vehicles were dispatched to help. By the time they arrived the male had been assisted off the trail by EMAS ambulance staff.
On Friday 30th March, Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams were called to an incident below Hollins Cross, Castleton. A female walker had slipped in wet and muddy conditions and sustained an ankle injury. Mountain rescue team members at Edale Team’s base in Hope and Buxton team members fund raising in Castleton were quickly on scene. Due to the nature of the injuries, medical support from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was requested.

On Tuesday 27th March, the Kinder search plan was activated for a walker missing overnight on Kinder Scout in wet and foggy conditions. The overdue walker’s car was located by Derbyshire Police in Edale, however without any knowledge of the walker’s intended route, Buxton, Edale, Glossop and Kinder Teams were mobilised to search the whole of Kinder Scout. The Peak District Search and Rescue Dogs were also called out.

A call went out for 10 members, along with cave rescue to help with a dog rescue at Eldon Quarry. When team members arrived on site information was passed that a 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy had strayed from the path on Eldon Hill and fell through the snow into a 20ft deep collapsed lead mine.

Ten members from Buxton worked along side members from Edale Mountain Rescue Team on the second snatch incident in as many days. Both teams responded to a lady who had suffered a lower leg injury whilst walking near to the River Noe near to Hope. The casualty was in some pain and was treated at scene by the team’s casualty carers. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance then transferred the lady to hospital.
A gentleman out for a walk from Peak Dale to Castleton took a slip and sustained a lower leg injury. Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Team responded and helped transport the gentleman to an East Midlands Ambulance Service with the aid of a back rope and stretcher.
The team was called to do a welfare check on an elderly farmer in the Brandside Area of Buxton.

The team was called to assist a walker who had slipped on a muddy path near Thornbridge Hall and suffered a lower leg injury. The team assisted East Midlands Ambulance Service and Edale Mountain Rescue Team to carry the casualty to an awaiting land ambulance for the transfer to hospital.
