Three mountain rescue teams and several search dogs were alerted when a walker was reported overdue following a late afternoon wander on to Kinder Scout. Mobile phone contact with the walker confirmed that he was lost in the middle of a boggy Kinder Scout and probably in area of Buxton team’s responsibility.

A joint Buxton and Edale Snatch Squad call-out to assist the ambulance service following the report of a fallen climber at the popular gritstone climbing edge. The 42 year old climber from Malmesbury in Wiltshire had fallen 4 – 5 metres to the ground sustaining a lower leg injury. Buxton team, having just completed call-out 53 in the Goyt Valley, was able to send twelve members and it vehicles to aid Edale members attending from nearer the scene. Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend an elderly male casualty suffering chest pains whilst walking with a rambling group. The casualty had been located near to the ruins of Errwood Hall by ambulance paramedics and treatment was ongoing as the first team members arrived. Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a young lady have hurt her ankle whilst walking near Peak Dale. The ambulance service was first on scene and completed the casualty assessment and treatment. Team members had the relatively simple job of placing the woman on a rescue stretcher and a short carry across a field to the waiting ambulance. The 23 year old local lady was transferred to a Macclesfield hospital.

Ambulance and team MR paramedics treated the casualty at scene for suspected head and pelvic injuries before team members carried him to the waiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance for transport to Sheffield Childrens’ Hospital.
Day two of a major search of the Goyt Valley for a missing 23 year old woman. Buxton, Kinder and Derby mountain rescue teams supported by four SARDA dogs worked from 08.00 to 19.00 without any further trace of the missing person. Just as the teams were standing down news was received that the girl had been located by the police at an address in Buxton.

Derbyshire Police requested the assistance of the rescue teams onFriday afternoon to find a 23 year old female from Buxton last seen on Wednesday. The police had great concerns for the girl’s safety and had reason to believe that she had visited the Fernilee reservoir end of the Goyt Valley.

Buxton Mountain Rescue team called to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a woman having slipped nearly forty feet. The lady had been walking on a steep limestone path made very slippery with moss and recent rain when she slipped down an embankment in the wooded valley. A tree arrested the fall which could otherwise have been more serious.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called alongside Kinder MRT to search Lyme Park, a large National Trust estate in Disley, Cheshire. The teams were called by Greater Manchester Police to assist with an extensive search for a man from the Stockport area.
The police had reason to be concerned for the man’s welfare and committed a large number of resources to the search. Nearly forty members of mountain rescue teams together with three mountain rescue search dogs spent eight hours combing the entire parkland including some densely wooded areas.
