Cornwood, Dartmoor

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team Member Dave and Search dog Griff were in Cornwall and were able to provide assistance to Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth Section in a search for a high-risk missing person.

Further information was received and the search was recommenced on Friday with DSRT Plymouth, DSRT Tavistock and 7 Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England dogs and handlers.

Unfortunately, the missing person was not found during the course of the search but was successfully located by police the next day safe and well…

Rowsley, Nr Bakewell

BMRT Search Dog call Griff and handler Dave were called just before midnight to assist Derby Mountain Rescue Team with a missing person search in the Rowsley area. Search dog Griff searched numerous areas with no find made. Search stood down at 0600 whilst further information is gathered

Higher Hurdsfield, Nr Macclesfield

The team was requested, along with Kinder Mountain Rescue Team, to assist Cheshire Search and Rescue in an ongoing search for a missing person in the Macclesfield area.

The teams were briefed at the rv point and given areas of the adjacent countryside to search. In a controlled and systematic way, each section set about searching their own areas. The areas were very difficult to search, on occasions team members were just a few metres apart from each other in order that nothing was missed.

Lea Bridge, south east of Matlock Bath

Search dog handler Dave and dog Griff were called to assist Derbyshire Constabulary with the search for a missing male in the Lea Bridge Area. Dave and Griff were joined by Ian Bunting and Search Dog Bolt from Edale MRT. The dogs and handlers, along with colleagues from Derby MRT were stood down around 2am the following morning  as the Police received further information that the missing person might not be in the search area.

The missing person was later found safe and well.

Search Dog Griff call out to Hartington

As part of the Mountain Rescue and Police response to search for a missing person near Hartington, (see call out details of 28th April), search dog Griff and handler Dave were also called into help. Longshaw Estate

Buxton Team Search Dog Griff and handler were called to assist colleagues in Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Derby Mountain Rescue Team with an on-going search for a missing person in the Froggatt area. Buxton Team Search Dog Griff and handler searched the identified area for four hours before the team, who had been placed on standby, were eventually stood down.

The missing person was found safe and well outside the search area.

Well done Griff, who clearly likes being in the spotlight.

Stanage Plantation

Buxton search dog Griff and handler was called to assist Edale MRT in the area above Stanage Plantation for Derbyshire Police. Targeted searches were commenced by team members and SARDA search dogs until further information came through that lead the search elsewhere. The teams and the dogs returned to bed in the early hours of the morning.

Search Dog Call Sutton on the Hill

Search Dog Grif and handler were called at 7.30pm to assist Derbyshire Constabulary and Derby MRT with the search for a missing person after a 72-year-old lady had been reported missing earlier in the day. Whilst discussing suitable dog deployment with the search manager information was received that a local farmer had found the missing person in a field. After a quick assessment of her condition, the Derby MRT members treated the lady for hypothermia and evacuated her to the road-head where she was transferred to an East Midlands Ambulance Service Land Ambulance and taken to the Royal Derby Hospital …

Dove Dale Dog Team search

A BMRT search Dog team was called at 2250 to assist Derby MRT with a search in the Ashbourne area for a missing 71 year old vulnerable male. The Dog Team carried out numerous search tasks. The missing male was not located in the search area and the Dog Team were stood down.
