Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team Member Dave and Search dog Griff were in Cornwall and were able to provide assistance to Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth Section in a search for a high-risk missing person.

Further information was received and the search was recommenced on Friday with DSRT Plymouth, DSRT Tavistock and 7 Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England dogs and handlers.

Unfortunately, the missing person was not found during the course of the search but was successfully located by police the next day safe and well

Calls for search dogs to help outside of their normal operating area are not uncommon, and on this occasion, as there were a number of search dogs in the area, they were able to assist our rescue colleagues “further south” than us, with their search.
