Buxton team and 3 search dogs called following a report to the police from a couple who had set off to walk in the Wyedale/ Cheeedale area and were now stranded due to darkness and no other lighting apart from the screen of a mobile phone. The team and dogs were being deployed when a local police control managed to locate the couple a little way down the Cheedale valley near but out of view of Blackwell Mill Cottages.

Buxton team called to attend a 31 year old male from Sheffield who punctured his femoral vein when he fell from his mountain bike descending the clough. The casualty, who had a medical background realised immediately the seriousness of his injury and applied immediate but effective self aid until help arrived. The casualty was treated on site by NWAS paramedic and team members before being carried ca ½ mile to the waiting air ambulance. Response vehicles and members diverted from the previous search to attend a 41 year old male from Sutton Coldfield who fell whilst soloing Thin Air (E5 6a). The casualty who had climbed approximately 2/3 of the route when he peeled off on the Crux move. Whilst the casualty had a spotter and a bouldering mat, which he managed to land on, his momentum and angle of impact resulted in a compound fracture of the right ankle. Buxton, Kinder and SARDA along with Cheshire Lowland Search were requested by Cheshire Police to assist in the search for a vulnerable 79 year old female who disappeared from a nursing home in the village the previous day. The teams were stood down on route when a body was found in a planed search area by local walkers. The team extend their sincere condolences to the casualty’s family.

In a follow up to the above search, Buxton, Kinder, SARDA and Cheshire Lowland Search were requested again to search priority areas in daylight. A full search once again proved negative with no trace of the missing man.
To date the missing man has still not been located and enquiries continue.

Buxton team and 17 SARDA dogs on national training in the Peaks were requested by Cheshire police to assist in the search for a 50 year old male from St Helens who had been reported missing 2 days earlier, after his car was found in a car park in the forest. The Cheshire lowland search team were also called and a search of the forest, much if which was after dark, proved negative.

Buxton Edale snatch squad called to attend a 50 year old male from Derby who had collapsed whilst walking with a friend. Sadly, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and the body evacuated to the roadhead. The team express their sincere condolences to family and friends.

Buxton Edale snatch squad called to evacuate a 35 year old male from Matlock who was thrown over the handlebars of his motorcycle when he hit a rock whilst he was travelling at ca 20 mph. After treatment on site by team doctors, the casualty was evacuated by stretcher to a nearby field and evacuated by air ambulance to Chesterfield Royal hospital.

Buxton Kinder snatch squad called to evacuate a 17 year old male from Macclesfield who suffered an Epileptic seizure whilst walking with his family. The casualty was treated on site and evacuated by air ambulance to Standing stones, where after a check over by the paramedics was driven home

Manners Wood, Bakewell

Buxton Edale snatch squad called to evacuate a 70 year old male from Poynton who collapsed whilst walking with a group. The casualty, who also had a minor leg injury, was treated on site by paramedics before being carried approximately ¾ mile through the woods to the ambulance for transport to chesterfield Royal Hospital.
