Windy Ledge, Stoney Middleton

Snatch squad called to evacuate a 12 year old male from Cheadle Heath Stockport, who slipped and sustained head and possible back injuries whilst ascending the path to start a caving trip as part of an organised group. The casualty was treated on site by EMAS paramedics before being evacuated some 50 metres down a the steep path to the road, this required a back rope and a great deal of hand over hand stretcher work across a short, polished limestone path.

Staden Quarry

Buxton team called to evacuate a 31 year old female from Whaley Bridge who fell ca 10metres whilst leading Rupert Bear goes hiking, (VS/4c). The casualty who had originally planned to climb indoors, changed plans at the last minute due to fine weather, and had sustained head and back injures and had also been briefly unconscious. East Midlands Ambulance control had requested an RAF Seaking due to the potential for serious injury that had been reported and after treatment on site by EMAS paramedics and team members, the casualty was loaded onto a spinal board and Bell Stretcher …

Buxton dogs called to assist in the search for a 31 year old despondent. The dog team was stood down en route when the casualty was found, sadly deceased.

Mam Tor Face

Buxton team called to evacuate a 19 year old male from Parsons Cross who had been visiting the Mamtor area when he decided it would be a laugh to climb the face. Local residents raised the alarm a little over an hour later when it was apparent that the male, a trainee scaffolder, was stuck and could not get up or down on the very loose and hazardous shale face. The youth, who was some 50 metres up from the bottom and above 2 sheer faces was cragfast 1/3 of the way up the face. He was rescued using …

Blue John Cavern

Buxton Edale snatch squad called by EMAS to Blue John Cavern in to assist with an 81 year old male from Kings Lynn who was suffering with breathing problems, which were exacerbated when he tired to ascent the steps out of the cavern when the episode began. Close team members assisted in the evacuation up the steps but the majority of the team were stood down on reaching the RV.
