Southern Edges, Kinder

Buxton tem was called to Edale, following a call for assistance received from a Duke of Edinburgh group from Sutton in Ashfield, lost after walking on Kinder Scout. Mobile phone contact was soon established and following a conversation about their route and what they could see around them before it became dark, their location was thought to be on the South Western side of Kinder Scout. Fairholmes

SARDA called to assist EMRT at Fairholmes to search for two 16 year old males who were overdue after hiring bikes from the centre to visit the Upper Derwent. Last seen at 1430hrs and having not returned by 1800hrs their group leader along with local Ranger service requested MRT assistance. The two males returned to the centre at Fairholmes as we were on route to the incident RVP and were stood down.

Higher Sutton, Wildboarclough

Buxton Team called a point near to the confluence of the Highmoor Brook and Rabb Clough to assist in the evacuation of a 29 year old male from the Higher Sutton area. He was being treated by paramedics for chest injuries after he was thrown from his quad bike which ran away from him whilst he was gathering sheep and slipped down a steep grass slope overturning at the bottom and throwing him out. Roaches

Buxton team called to evacuate a 32 year old female from Sheffield who fell approximately 8 metres whilst attempting Rotunda Buttress (VS4C) when her protection apparently failed. The casualty who was not wearing a helmet, had suffered lower back and head injuries, and was treated on site by paramedics from the air ambulance before being immobilised and evacuated to the air ambulance and taken to North Staffs Trauma Centre for further treatment.

Goyt Valley

Team members were again requested by a different landowner to recover a sheep that had got stuck on an inaccessible ledge close to the waters edge at Erwood reservoir. Team members again set up a lowering and hoisting system and the animal was recovered unhurt. In contrast to the recent incident in Cheedale, the farmer did attend the rescue, and was most grateful, personally thanking all of the members who attended for our prompt and effective response.
