Middleton nr Youlgreave

Buxton team called to evacuate a 74 year old male from Wakefield who collapsed with chest pains whilst walking on the Limestone way near Middleton. The casualty was treated on site by EMAS paramedics and evacuated to Chesterfield by Air Ambulance. The casualty’s wife and the remainder of the walking party were escorted off the hill by team members.

Black Moss, Diggle

Handler and navigator along with three other SARDA handlers called to the Black Moss/ Diggle area to assist Oldham MRT after a walker on the Pennine Way had reported hearing cries for help around Black Moss reservoir. The search proved negative.

High Wheeldon, Earl Sterndale

Buxton team called to assist an EMAS ambulance crew to evacuate a 42 yr old female from Northwich, who was walking with a friend across a steep grass bank, when she slipped on the wet vegetation and fell/rolled some 30 feet down a rocky outcrop, sustaining an injury to her right lower leg which left her immobile.
She was treated on site by the EMAS Paramedics and loaded onto our stretcher and evacuated a short but tricky evacuation to the waiting ambulance, near to Aldery Cliff. She was then transferred to the Macclesfield District General Hospital for further treatment.

Snake Summit, Bleaklow

Buxton dog was one of five dogs were called to Snake Summit to assist Glossop MRT search for 2 missing walkers on Bleaklow. Dogs were stood down shortly before deployment when the missing walkers were located and evacuated by the Derbyshire Police Helicopter from Miry Clough in the Alport Valley. The casualties, who were mildly hypothermic, were flown directly to Ripley and the Police observers left to walk off the hill.
