Upper Burbage Bridge

Buxton Edale snatch squad called to evacuate a 17 year old male from Sheffield who had fallen approx 8 metres whilst climbing on Knights Move. He was treated for spinal injuries and an injury to the left ankle by MR doctors before being evacuated by stretcher ca 800 metres to the roadhead and then taken to the Northern General Hospital for further treatment.

Buxton snatch called to assist EMAS in the evacuation of a 45 year old female who had slipped and sustained an ankle injury. Stood down en route when the amblance service and fire service were able to evacuate the lady.

Dodworth, Barnsley

Search dog Megan + 2 other search dogs with handlers, called from a training session to assist South Yorkshire Police and Woodhead MRT to search for a 42 year old female who had been missing overnight. Search dog units were stood down en-route to the incident when the casualty was located (semi-conscious) near to the Trans-pennine trail. After stabilizing at the scene she was flown to Barnsley General Hospital by the Police helicopter.

Kinder Downfall

Team members on exercise with an RAF Search and Rescue Sea King helicopter at their Doveholes base were called to assist a 32 year old male from Tamworth who had slipped on sheet ice sustaining a lower leg injury in an area near Kinder Downfall. A section of six personnel together with equipment were flown in the Sea King aircraft to the reported incident site. Further members backed up the section by road. The air section located the casualty, treated him and he was then flown to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield for further treatment .

Tankersley golf course, North of Sheffield

Dog team and navigator called to assist South Yorkshire Police and Woodhead MRT to search for missing, 43 year old male last seen earlier that afternoon. The man’s car was located at Tankersley golf course where he had a hobby of collecting golf balls from the undergrowth. Police were concerned that he had recently had major surgery and had not returned home as normal. A search by police units including the air support unit had failed to locate the man.
