Tansley Dale, Litton

Buxton Edale snatch squad called to evacuate a 60 year old female from Sheffield who slipped whilst on the muddy path into Tansley Dale sustaining a lower leg injury. The casualty was treated on site by EMAS technicians and MR members before being evacuated by stretcher to Litton.

Kinder Scout

As the previous incident was concluded, the team were made aware via radio that a further couple, this time two females, who had set off to walk from the Snake Pass to Edale had failed to arrive. The incident was concluded within minutes when the couple arrived back at the Snake Inn, safe and well.

Southern Edges, Kinder Scout

Following a call for assistance received by the police, two Controllers attached to Buxton were called to assist a couple from the West Midlands who had become lost during a circular walk on Kinder Scout. We were able to talk to them via their mobile phone. They had set off from Hayfield and walked onto the western edge of Kinder Scout. At Kinder Downfall they followed a river into the middle of the moor, which is featureless and were now by a group of rocks looking down into a steep sided valley, everything was covered in snow. Mam Tor Ridge

A report was received via Derbyshire Police from a member of the public who was concerned that a family had taken a baby in a papoose onto the Mam Tor ridge in the direction of Hollins Cross. The caller was concerned that the infant was not properly dressed for the conditions. Whilst local police units checked around the surrounding roads, members of the snatch squad checked the local car parks and the ridge to see if the family could be found. The search was negative.

Long Cliff, Castleton

Whilst walking into the previous incident, members of the snatch squad came across a second casualty on the same path, this time a 44 year old female from Marple who had suffered an identical accident. The casualty was escorted back to the roadhead and after assessment by an EMAS Community Paramedic, was taken to hospital by her husband for further treatment.
