Monsal Dale

Buxton Edale snatch squad assisted by some members of Derby team who were at Buxton base  were called to evacuate a 36 year old female from Darley Dale, near Matlock, who whilst walking with her husband from Monsal Head had been hit from behind by her dog and been knocked to the ground.  Her location was on a greasy, sloping limestone path above the River Wye.  She was suffering pain to her back and neck and was treated on site by a mountain rescue doctor, paramedics and air ambulance paramedics. …

Whinstone Lee Tor

Buxton mountain rescue and Edale snatch squad called to evacuate a 72 year old Male from Silverdale Sheffield who suffered a medical collapse whilst ascending the steep climb up to Whinstone Lee Tor.  He was unconscious for 3 to 4 minutes, and a member of the group who was a retired medical professional suspected he may have had cardiac problem.  The casualty was accessed by the air ambulance and flown to the Northern General Hospital and released the same day.

Cats Tor

Buxton and Kinder mountain rescue teams called to Pyms Chair to assist in the evacuation of a 61 year old female who had fallen in the Cats Tor area and sustained a wrist injury. Early reports indicated also a reduced level of consciousness.   The teams were stood down on arrival as passing walkers and paramedics had assisted the casualty and walked her down the ridge footpath to Pym Chair. She was then transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.

Chee Tor Buttress

Buxton mountain rescue team called following reports of a fallen climber. A 59 year old male from Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire had completed climbing Meditation on Chee Tor and abseiled off.   He had doubled his rope but one tail of the rope was not long enough and he abseiled off the rope and fell approx 10 metres sustaining  chest, arm and head injuries. Stanage Edge

Buxton mountain rescue team were called from Chatsworth to assist Edale team to treat a 30 year old male climber who had fallen from the Barlborough area. He was climbing in the Bishops Wall area when he fell; his protection failed and he hit the bottom of the crag,  sustaining a compound elbow injury, spinal and pelvic injuries.
