Windgather Rocks

Buxton team called to evacuate a 19 year old male from Manchester who fell ca 6 metres whilst leading Route 2 and landed on his feet sustaining an injury to the right ankle.  After treatment on site by team members and paramedics, the casualty was evacuated by stretcher to the roadhead and transported to Macclesfield hospital for further treatment.

Castle Naze

Buxton team was called to assist a 20 year male from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk currently a student at Manchester University. He had been leading a route called “Scoop Face Direct”. He came off and pendulumed on his runner protection, falling about 6 metres and hitting a small ledge. His belay failed again dropping him a further 3 metres to land at the base of the cliff. Treak Cliff Cavern, Castleton

The snatch squad was called from the previous incident to assist in the evacuation of a 68 year old male from Nottingham. He had collapsed in Treak Cliff Cavern following a strenuous climb. He was treated on site by the ambulance service paramedics and the team doctor, then packaged and carried some 250 metres back down the twisty path and steps to the roadside. He refused hospital treatment.

Peak Cavern, Castleton

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the ambulance service in the evacuation of a 54 year old male who had been walking with his wife. They were returning to the village from the Cow Low area when he slipped on the steep hillside and sustained an injury to his left lower leg which immobilised him. He was treated on site by the ambulance service paramedics, and evacuated by stretcher for more than 500 metres through the village to the waiting air ambulance, which had repositioned itself in the fields below. Southern Edges, Kinder Scout

Buxton and Edale teams were called to assist two 25 year old males from Doncaster who had set off for a circular walk later than they had planned and had become very cold, wet and disorientated when the clag came down and the weather closed in. The pair were recovered very wet and cold, but otherwise uninjured, by one of the search dogs towards the top of Grindsbrook gorge.
