Upper Goyt Valley

Buxton MRT called to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with a 44 year old off-road trials bike rider from Buxton.  The man had parted company with his machine sustaining a suspected fractured collar bone.

The incident occurred not far off the A537 Cat & Fiddle Road making for a short but difficult stretcher carry to an ambulance waiting to take him to a Macclesfield hospital.

Ringstone Farm, Furness Vale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to a camp site to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with a casualty with a suspected fractured ankle. 

The casualty, a 19 year old girl from Bredbury, Stockport, had been camping with friends in woodland behind the main camp site when the accident occurred.  It is thought the accident happened around 02.30 am but emergency services were not alerted until  09.00. 

The difficult location of the casualty made for a short but strenuous stretcher carry to a waiting ambulance.

Bleaklow

A multi team and dog search for a missing despondent male whose car had been located at Snake Summit.  Buxton team rendezvoused at 5.00 pm and searched until after dark but nothing was found.  Search to continue the following day using local teams.

Three Shires Bridge, Derbyshire, Cheshire & Staffordshire

A Buxton team call-out to assist the ambulance service dealing with an 11 year old boy who had fallen from a rope swing sustaining upper arm injuries.

Three Shires Bridge is a remote beauty spot with no easy access and although an air-ambulance was known to be en-route, it was thought landing might be a problem.  The rescue team was grateful for the permission of a local farmer for use of his yard and to allow the team Land Rover to drive over his land with the response equipment.  However, just as the team was arriving at the casualty site, the youth was being loaded …
