Ringing Roger, Kinder

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was tasked to an incident in the Edale area.

A 15 year old girl from Bedford was walking with her family who were on holiday in the area. Between Ringing Roger and the Nab on Kinder Scout, she suffered an injury to her ankle which immobilised her.

She was treated on site by a mountain rescue doctor, including splinting and pain relief, placed on a stretcher and carried for more than 1 kilometre to the ambulance in Edale Village.  She was then transferred to the Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for further treatment.

Stanage

A Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams joint snatch squad is called to the climbing edge of Stanage near Hathersage.

A 19 year old male sustained injuries to his ankle whilst bouldering below the edge.  He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics and then evacuated by stretcher to the waiting ambulance at the roadside, for onward transferr to hospital.

Castle Naze, Combs

A full team callout for Buxton MRT following a report to the ambulance service of a climber having fallen from Castle Naze between Combs and Dove Holes. 

The incident, being so close to the rescue team’s base, made for a fast response and backed up East Midlands Ambulance staff already on scene.  The casualty, a 39 year old male from Leamington Spa, had fallen some 15 metres from a route believed to graded at HVS sustaining lower leg and head injuries.

Miller’s Dale

A joint Edale & Buxton Snatch Squad callout following a report of a woman having sustained an injury whilst abseiling from the bridge on the old railway track. 

By the time teams arrived the casualty was in a position accessible to East Midlands Ambulance staff and the rescue teams were stood down.
