As a previous incident was concluding, the snatch squad of Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams were tasked with a further incident near Edale Cross.

A 66 year old male walker from Bournemouth, Dorset, had collapsed with exhaustion. Team sections were re-deployed via Jacobs Ladder to Edale Cross. We were joined by Kinder Mountain Rescue Team colleagues, who had driven up from Hayfield.

Grindbrook Gorge, Edale

A joint Buxton/Edale Mountain Rescue Team snatch squad was called to Edale on Saturday night, following reports of an injured walker.

We located a 46 year old male from Repton, Derbyshire, near Halfway Rocks in Grindsbrook Gorge. He had slipped whilst walking and sustained a dislocated shoulder.

The man was treated on site by team medics, including pain relief and splinting. He was then placed on our stretcher and carried for more than a kilometre to Grindslow House, Edale. From here he was transferred into the waiting land ambulance, and taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.

Biggin

On Sunday the East Midlands Ambulance Service requested the assistance of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team to help with the recovery of an injured cyclist on the Tissington Trail near Biggin.

Although it was reported that the male cyclist had sustained a knee injury, his exact location was unknown. However, the land ambulance crew were able to access the trail, and find the casualty directly. Both the MR team and the air ambulance circling overhead were therfore stood down.

Grinlow Woods, Buxton

On Wednesday afternoon, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to Pooles Cavern to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A 46 year old male from Newmarket, Suffolk, was walking with his family in Grinlow Woods when he collapsed, hitting his head on a rock as he fell to the ground, sustaining head injuries.

He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics, placed onto a stretcher and carried by team members to the waiting ambulance in the car park. From there he was transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.

Kinder Scout, Southern Edges

An evening incident for Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams, together with Search and Rescue Dogs on the hills above Edale.

Two men, aged 23 and 24, from Letchworth and London, had spent the day walking part of the Edale skyline, including the Great Ridge, and the northern edges of Kinder Scout.

They intended to return to Edale via the Southern Edges of Kinder Scout but became dehydrated and disorientated whilst crossing the plateau and called for assistance.
