Hen Cloud

Following the report of a climber having fallen from Bachelor’s Climb at Hen Cloud near The Roaches, the team responded with 18 members.   The 28 year old climber had sustained a possible fractured leg in the fall and was being treated by West Midlands Ambulance Service.   An air-ambulance was called but declined to land as darkness and poor weather set in.  The casualty was instead carried by stretcher to Roaches Gate where an ambulance was waiting.

Grin Low Woods, Buxton

Whilst dealing with the previous incident at The Roaches a call was received that a walker in Grin Low Country Park, Buxton, has sustained an injury.  Additional members were called out and others were diverted from The Roaches.  A walker had developed a hip problem whilst walking in the woods and was unable to continue.  The casualty was treated on site by East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics before the team carried him to Pooles Cavern car park where the ambulance was waiting.

Hen Cloud, the Roaches

Buxton Team called out to a fallen climber at The Roaches, Staffordshire.

 A 25 year old male had reported fallen some 10 metres from the upper tier.  A doctor was first on scene and called for the emergency services.  The team responded from base and were quickly on scene.  Owing to the failing light and threatening cloud an air-ambulance was unable to assist so the casualty was carried down to the road where an ambulance was waiting.

Mam Tor

A Joint Edale & Buxton Snatch Squad call-out to Mam Tor following the report of six people stranded on the face.   On arrival the teams quickly led four of the casualties to safety whilst a fifth need a little more encouragement.  The sixth was seriously stranded and a technical rope rescue was required.

All persons recovered to safety unharmed.  No casualty details available.

Shining Tor

This was the third reported incident within two hours and sent Buxton team members scurrying back towards their home patch.  A new call-out was initiated to raise fresh local hands for a call to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service.  A mountain biker was reported to have parted company from his bike and sustained upper arm and shoulder injuries.  The team rendezvoused at The Cat & Fiddle and then sent a vehicle along the Shining Tor track to the incident site.  The rescuers met the casualty walking along the track and gave him a lift the ambulance waiting at the Cat …
