Wild Moor, Goyt Valley

On Saturday night, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, with search dogs were called to the Goyt Valley. A search dog team from Woodhead also attended.

A 23 year old vulnerable female from Sale, Cheshire, had been reported missing. She had been walking the Goyt Valley moors and became separated from her companion near to the top of Berry Clough in the early evening. The last contact with her was via a mobile phone call, in which she indicated she was cold, by a wall, and could see street lights.

Wirksworth area

Search dogs and handlers from Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, together with dog teams from two other Peak District MRTs were called to support Derby MRT in searching a quarry near Wirksworth for a missing male.

The body of the missing man was located on a ledge, approx. 60 feet below the edge of a cliff-face by a Buxton dog team. The man was recovered by Derby Team with support from the dog handlers.

Mam Nick

Again to Mam Nick, this time on the northern side of the ridge.

A 33 year old male from Lightwood, Stoke, had slipped whilst descending a track between Mam Nick and Greenlands Farm. He was walking with friends and sustained a lower leg injury.

He was treated on site by team members, including pain relief and splinting, prepared and evacuated by stretcher some 600 metres to the waiting land ambulance at Greenlands Farm. From there he was transferred to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.

Mam Nick

Around tea time, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members were called to Mam Nick to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A 39 year old male from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, was paragliding in the Mam Tor area. Coming into land in the fields near to the Rushop Edge road, he took a very heavy impact near to a wall and sustained
injuries to his lower back.

He was treated on site by ambulance service and team paramedics, given pain relief, and after splinting, loaded onto a stretcher and placed into the waiting land ambulance which then transferred him to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for …

Cheadle Heath, Stockport

Search dog, Megan, and handler Dave, along with other search dogs from Woodhead MRT, Glossop MRT, and Calder Valley SRT called to assist Oldham MRT in the Cheadle Heath area of Stockport to search for a missing vulnerable female.

Dogs, handlers and team members worked through torrential rain into the night when all of the identified areas had been searched without result.

Police enquiries ongoing.
