Win Hill

A Buxton & Edale Mountain Rescue Team snatch squad was called to Townhead Bridge, Hope, on Friday afternoon.

A 59 year old male hill walker from the Nottingham area, had slipped and sustained a fractured ankle whilst walking the ridge between Win Hill and Hope Cross. To raise the alarm, his walking companion had to walk down to the nearest farm, as neither had a mobile phone available.

The casualty was treated on site by rescue team personnel who splintered his injury and gave pain relief. The gentleman was then placed into a vacuum mattress, and onto a stretcher. The low cloud …

Lose Hill

A joint Buxton and Edale snatch squad was called to Townhead Bridge, near Hope, on Saturday morning. Buxton Team members were fundraising in Castleton, enabling a very quick response.

The call-out involved a 40 Year old male walker who had slipped on wet snow whilst walking in the Lose Hill area, dislocating his left shoulder.

The DLR Air Ambulance was on scene before us, dropping off a doctor and paramedic, before relocating downhill to a better landing area. The aircrew treated the casualty on site, including pain relief. Team members arrived and placed the casualty into a vacuum mattress and loaded him …

Leek, outskirts

The team, together with a search dog, was called to Leek on Sunday night, after reports that a vulnerable young male was missing in the south eastern outskirts of town, around Bradnop.

Heavy snow was falling and there was a considerable wind chill leading to major concerns for his welfare and safety.

The young man was seen by police within the search area, and the team were preparing a search strategy together with the police search advisor when the missing male returned home.

Mam Tor Ridge, northern slopes

On Sunday afternoon a joint Buxton and Edale snatch squad was called to Mam Nick, on the northern side of the Mam Tor ridge.

The ambulance service had requested assistance to recover a 21 year old female walker who had collapsed on the bridleway between Mam Nick and Edale. She was treated on site by the crew of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance who had landed nearby, and then taken in the aircraft to Edale where she was transferred into a land ambulance and taken to hospital for further treatment.
