Monyash

A joint Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service following a call from a walking group in Lathkill Dale.

One person in the group had fallen and sustained a head injury. The groups exact location was unknown. An ambulance paramedic searched the path in Lathkill Dale but experienced poor mobile communication.

When contact was eventually made, it transpired that the casualty had recovered and the group continued their walk.

Dronfield

Search dog Megan, and her handler, Dave, along with five other search dog teams called to assist Edale MRT with a search for a man from the Dronfield area.

The 72 year old male had last been seen at 1530 the previous afternoon. The operation was later expanded to include both Derby and Woodhead MRTs. The man was located by a search dog team from Glossop MRT. He was alive but injured.

The man was treated by team medics before being evacuated to hospital for further treatment.

Carsington Water, Staffs.

Search dogs, Megan and Zak, along with their handlers, and 26 members of Derby MRT called to search for a missing man around Carsington Water.

The 42 year old man had last been seen near Millfields car park the previous night. His vehicle was still parked there the following day causing police to become concerned for his safety, and leading to the decision to call on the team to carry out a thorough search of the area. Long Hill Road, nr. Fernilee

In the very early hours of Sunday, Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was tasked to assist emergency services in recovering five males from a car which had left the Long Hill Road near Fernilee.

All the local emergency services were in attendance, including Fire, Police and Ambulance, however there were some difficulties recovering three casualties to the roadside due to the terrain. Together the Kinder Team, we assisted paramedics with our specialist equipment in recovering two injured casualties by stretcher to the waiting ambulance on Long Hill Road. They were transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for for further treatment.

Over Owler Tor, nr. Hathersage

The joint Buxton and Edale snatch squad was called to the Surprise View Car Park, near Hathersage, on Thursday afternoon to assist the ambulance service.

A 52 year old female from the Whitley Bay area, on holiday in the Peak District, was walking in the Over Owler Tor area when she tripped on the rocky path sustaining an injury to her right ankle immobilising her.

She was treated on site by team members, including pain relief and splinting, placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried some 400 metres to the waiting land ambulance for onward transport to the Northern General Hospital, …
