Cave Dale, Castleton

A joint Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the ambulance service with a injured person in Cave Dale.

The casualty, a 61 year old man from Hull, had slipped about 1 metre down the slopes of the grassy limestone terrain after climbing up the steep banks of a small cliff. He sustained a suspected broken ankle. He was treated on site by paramedics and then carried about 300 metres down the footpath by stretcher to the road.

A waiting ambulance transferred him to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.

Cut-thorn, A54

On Friday afternoon the team was called to Cut-thorn Farm, just off the A54 Buxton – Congleton Road.

An 18 year old male from Goostry, Cheshire, fell whilst rope swinging in the River Dane and sustained a suspected spinal injury.

The team was stood down en-route when it became apparent that the ambulance service had managed to get the casualty airlifted to hospital.

Allestree Park, Derby

Search dogs, Megan and Zak, along with their handlers, joined members of Derby MRT to search for a missing man around Allestree Park.

The 40 year old man’s car had been found at an access point to the park and police, concerned for his safety, called on Derby team to carry out a search of the area.

The man was located, deceased, in thick woodland.

Surprise View nr. Hathersage

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to Surprise View following reports of an incident on Millstone Edge, near Hathersage.

A 40 year old male climber, from Healey Green, Cheadle, was leading a route and fell about 30 feet, hitting the crag floor as a result of a runner coming out. She was treated on site and found to be suffering pain in her back and hand.

The casualty was placed on a stretcher and evacuated to the waiting air ambulance and flown to hospital for further treatment.

Padley Gorge, nr Grindleford

A second call-out for the day for the snatch squad, again to assist the ambulance service.

An elderly male had suffered a medical collapse. He was assessed on site by a team paramedic, and evacuated by stretcher to the roadside.
