Grindsbrook Clough

A joint Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Team snatch squad was called to Edale village in the afternoon to assist in recovering an animal.

The casualty was a 10 year old greyhound, a pet dog belonging to a family from Beverley, East Yorkshire. They were all walking along the southern Edges of Kinder Scout, when the greyhound slipped on a narrow section of the path above Grindsbrook Clough. It fell about 25 feet over the rocky escarpment, landing on the steep ground below. Curbar Edge

A joint Edale and Buxton team snatch squad call-out to a walker on Curbar Edge.

An adult male casualty had been walking on the edge path when he caught his foot resulting in a suspected fracture of the lower leg.  Treatment on site was by East Midlands Ambulance Service and Edale MRT paramedics.  The casualty was then carried by rescue stretcher to a waiting ambulance at Curbar Gap.

Bosley Cloud, Staffordshire

Eleven members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded when West Midlands Ambulance Service called for assistance at Bosley Cloud on the Cheshire – Staffordshire border.

A 78 year old man sustained suspected pelvic injuries following a fall whilst walking with his wife and a friend at the remote beauty spot.  Initial treatment was given by NWAS paramedics whilst team members prepared for a stretcher carry off the hill.  However, shortly after arrival at scene it was confirmed that an air-ambulance was on route and consequently only a short transfer carry to the …

Biggin Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue called to evacuate a woman in the Biggin Dale area.

The casualty, a 80 year old female, from Bedfordshire, was part of a walking party staying at Hartington Youth hostel. Whilst walking, she slipped on uneven ground and sustained  arm and facial injuries. Fortunately the walking group were able to find a position where they could get a mobile phone signal and were able to summon assistance. The casualty was treated on site by MR team members before being evacuated by stretcher down Biggin Dale and along Beresford Dale. This was an extended evacuation and had to be completed by fording …

The Roaches, Staffordshire

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was deployed to an incident on the Roaches, Staffordshire late on Saturday afternoon following the report of a walking accident.

A 17 year old male from London, on holiday with a family group, was walking along the top of  the Roaches outcrop when a stumble resulted in a suspected fractured leg. Sixteen team members climbed to the accident site close to Doxey Pool.  After treatment by team first aiders the young man was carried by rescue stretcher for over a kilometre to a waiting West Midlands ambulance for …
