Bamford, near Mytham Bridge.

Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams called out in a joint team Snatch Squad operation following the report of a lady having collapsed near to the River Derwent at Bamford.

The 64 year old lady, who had suffered a fit whilst out walking, was treated by East Midlands Ambulance Paramedics before being carried by rescue stretcher a short distance back to the road.  She was then taken by ambulance to a Sheffield hospital for further observation.

Priestcliffe Lees

A late afternoon call-out for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team following a report to Derbyshire police from an adult couple on a circular walk from Monsal Head.

The couple, from Prestwich, Manchester, had walked along the Monsal Trail towards Miller’s Dale before turning southwest and up hill towards Priestcliffe.  Using only a guided walk downloaded from the internet and with no map or other navigational aids, it wasn’t long before they were hopelessly lost in the wooded area.

Mam Tor Ridge near Back Tor.

Buxton and Edale team members were still involved with a task on Jacobs Ladder when a call was received relating to a potentially serious incident on Mam Tor ridge.

Resources were quickly diverted but the exact location of the incident, which involved a five year old child with head injuries, was not known.  Buxton team members approached the ridge from Mam Nick whilst Edale members approached from Hollins Farm.  A further contingent was deployed from Back Tor farm.  A young boy from the Mansfield area had been walking with his …

Jacob’s Ladder

Buxton and Edale rescue teams called to rendezvous at Upper Booth following the report of a mountain biker having crashed at the top of Jacob’s Ladder.

The man sustained a suspected fractured collar bone and was treated by rescue first aiders and a paramedic before being placed on a stretcher.  He was then carried down the old packhorse route to Lee farm where an East Midlands ambulance was waiting to transfer him to a Sheffield hospital.
