Kinder Scout

The joint team Kinder Scout Search Plan was put on standby following information being received from Greater Manchester police relating to a 75 year old walker being overdue from a walk on the moor.

There had been heavy rain in the area for the previous 24 hours so it was known that the rivers would be in flood and the peat-bog unusually treacherous.  The search plan involves Glossop, Kinder, Edale and Buxton M.R.Ts. and each alerted its members to the possibility of an imminent call-out.  Buxton team had twenty-two members immediately available and the team bases were made ready.   In …

Lose Hill

Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams both responded to a call out to Lose Hill where a visiting walker had been reported as being unconscious. The Derbyshire Leicester and Rutland Air Ambulance was also called and arrived at the scene first.  On examination, the aircraft doctor found the casualty to be less seriously ill than first reported, the female patient having regained full consciousness.

Following a full assessment by the medics, the casualty was carefully escorted down from the hill by rescue team members and returned with her partner to their holiday property nearby.

Goyt Valley

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was still returning from the previous incident in the Hope Valley when another accident was reported to East Midlands Ambulance Service which sounded like serious injuries to a walker’s head and neck.

A sixty year old lady from Buxton had been walking two large dogs along the dismantled railway track when she was as possibly pulled over by her dogs.  On arrival at scene her physical injuries were discovered not to be as serious as first reported but lady had been out in the poor weather …

A joint team Snatch Squad call-out for Edale and Buxton M.R.Ts following a call from East Midlands Ambulance Service reference reports of a walker with a possible fractured ankle on a footpath near to Hope village.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following a report from a solo female walker on Combs Moss above Chapel en le Frith.
