Crowsen Brook, Kinder Scout.

Following a call-out initially for Kinder M.R.T., Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was requested to send a group of its members up Crowden Brook from Upper Booth to meet with the casualty party.

A group of walkers had become disorientated on the plateau. They reported themselves as in the area around the Jacobs Ladder but following a phone conversation with the group and the use of SARLOC, their correct position was establish to be the top of Crowden Clough.

Linacre Woods, Chesterfield.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist neighboring Edale M.R.T. dealing with a serious incident in Linacre Woods near Chesterfield.

The lady from Chesterfield had suffered a bad slip and fall in the woods, resulting in suspected injuries to her ankle, back, neck and elbow as well as suffering hypothermia.  An East Midlands Ambulance crew were treating the casualty but rescue equipment was required to extricate her from a difficult position.   Chesterfield is a little off Buxton MRT’s normal working area and it was Edale members who were mainly involved with most Buxton members being stood down on route.

Odin Mine, Mam Tor

A joint team call-out for Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams from East Midlands Ambulance Service to assist with the evacuation of an injured walker near to Odin Mine below Mam Tor.

The female walker from Northamptonshire had slipped on the wet ground and sustained a suspected fractured ankle.  Following treatment by an E.M.A.S. Paramedic the casualty was carried a short distance on a mountain rescue stretcher to the waiting ambulance.

Other team members still on route to the incident were stood down.

Calver New Bridge

This call was received whilst team members were responding to incident 86.  Whilst some members continued to the original call at Grindleford, others were diverted to Calver New Bridge where Edale M.R.T. was dealing with a fallen walker on the footpath aside the River Derwent.

An Edale team doctor was rapidly on scene to assess and treat the young lady from Nottingham who had fallen injuring her knee.  Following splinting and analgesia, the lady was carried by mountain rescue stretcher to a waiting East Midlands Ambulance for onward transport to hospital.

Grindleford / Stoney Middleton

Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team’s Joint Snatch Squad called to an incident on a footpath between Grindleford and Stoney Middleton where a 60 year old male walker had started to feel acutely unwell.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service community paramedic was first on scene to deliver medical care.  Following assessment, rescue team members lifted him on to a stretcher and carried him down hill to Stoney Middleton were an ambulance waiting.   In the early stages of this incident another call was received relating to an injured walker near to Calver.
