Hollins Cross

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called called to support members of Edale M.R.T. with an incident whereby a 69 year old lady had taken a fall on the Great Ridge near Hollins Cross.

The arrival of an air-ambulance meant the casualty could be evacuated quickly and before the arrival of Buxton team members.  Most team members were stood down on route leaving Edale members to transfer the casualty to the aircraft.

Kinder Scout

Initially a call-out for Kinder M.R.T. but escalated to include Glossop and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams when five young people reported themselves lost on Kinder Scout.

The group of five from a school in Suffolk were taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Scheme when they became disorientated on the moor.  Heavy rain and low cloud had hampered their progress throughout the day but it was the onset of darkness which prompted their request for assistance.

Shutlingsloe, Macclesfield Forest.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous at Standing Stones in Macclesfield Forest following the report to North West Ambulance Service of a man suffering chest pains on the path towards Shutlingsloe.

An air-ambulance was also en-route but rain and low cloud jeopardised its attendance.  However, as members were arriving, a message was received that the aircraft had found a window in the weather and had been able to evacuate the casualty.

Broadlee Bank, Upper Booth, Edale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a man having collapsed with chest pains on the Pennine Way at Broadlee Bank.  Edale M.R.T. was also called to speedily bring specialist cardiac equipment to the scene.

E.M.A.S. paramedics were on site first but despite their best efforts, and the work of team members following on, the man was pronounced to have died at the scene.   Following the attendance of Derbyshire police the deceased casualty was respectfully carried to Upper Booth by the joint team members.

Oxlow House, Eldon Hill

A rude awakening for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members when called early on Sunday morning.  By the time members had got their socks on, whatever the incident was, was stood down.

UPDATE:  A female caver assisted on the surface by police.
