At 14.10 in the same day Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams returned to the Jacob’s Ladder area of Kinder following the report of a walker having sustained a fractured upper arm in a fall.  It was uncertain what had caused the original fall so team members moved quickly to the location. 
The male casualty was found and treated by rescue team paramedics and carried down to Upper Booth for transfer to an ambulance.

At 09.15 am on Saturday 18th May Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called along with neighbouring teams, Kinder MRT and Edale MRT to search for a man who had been reported lost on Kinder Scout overnight.  The man was known to have spent a very wet and cold night on the hillside and was believed to be suffering from hypothermia.

Thick low cloud blanketed the moor making navigation and visual searching very difficult.  Dogs from the Search and Rescue Dog Association were also called and search teams commenced work from three different access points.

Search dog, Megan, and her handler from Buxton Mountain Rescue responded to a request from Edale team to assist in a search for a missing person.

The person, a 60 year old male, had got separated from his family during the Dam Busters 70th anniversary celebrations that day.

Both dog and handler stood down en-route, when it was clear that the man had returned to the family’s vehicle.

The team was assembling at Upper Booth for a training exercise on Saturday evening when information was received about an incident in Crowden Brook.

A 16 year old female member of a visiting Army Cadet Unit from Melton Mowbray, undertaking a Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition, had sustained a suspected pelvic injury whilst descending from Crowden Tower.  The teams’ training exercise was immediately aborted, and a call-out initiated instead.  Team members were quickly on scene and were able to stabilise the casualty’s condition. Following directly on from a previous call-out, a second request for the day came in from the ambulance service to attend an incident on the Monsal Trail.

The casualty, a 35 year old male cyclist, had tumbled over his handlebars and sustained  a dislocated shoulder and minor abrasions. He was treated on site by Edale team paramedics, then splinted onto a spinal board which was placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher. He was evacuated by team members along the trail to ensure as smooth a recovery as possible, avoiding a bumpy vehicle ride.

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service with a climbing incident near Nelson’s Monument.

The casualty, a 41 year old man from Durham had completed his climbing route, and was descending the crag when he slipped and sustained a severe fracture/dislocation to his ankle. He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics and Edale team members. The climber was then put into a scoop stretcher and swiftly transfered to the waiting Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.

He was flown to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.

A joint Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Team snatch squad was called to Edale village in the afternoon to assist in recovering an animal.

The casualty was a 10 year old greyhound, a pet dog belonging to a family from Beverley, East Yorkshire. They were all walking along the southern Edges of Kinder Scout, when the greyhound slipped on a narrow section of the path above Grindsbrook Clough. It fell about 25 feet over the rocky escarpment, landing on the steep ground below.
