Incident report

At 14.10 in the same day Buxton and Edale mountain rescue teams returned to the Jacob’s Ladder area of Kinder following the report of a walker having sustained a fractured upper arm in a fall.  It was uncertain what had caused the original fall so team members moved quickly to the location.
The male casualty was found and treated by rescue team paramedics and carried down to Upper Booth for transfer to an ambulance.

I was the walker who was rescued by paramedic Martin and the Mountain Rescue Team on Saturday afternoon – thank you all so much, you were absolutely brilliant and I am extremely grateful. I was in a lot of pain with what turned out to be a dislocated shoulder (this was why I couldn’t get my arm into a sling position). The morphine that Martin was able to give me was so helpful in controlling that pain, which by the time I got to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield (6pm) was again becoming hard to bear. Luckily, they also dealt with me very quickly and efficiently, within about an hour I had my shoulder relocated under sedation; I do have a “fracture fragment” of the humerus as well but this is not too painful and should hopefully heal over the next few weeks.
Thank you all again so much, I am sorry I was such a heavy burden to carry down Jacobs Ladder but I am immensely grateful to you all.
    Best wishes,
    Jeremy

My thanks to Martin (the paramedic) and the rest of the mountain rescue team members that assisted when Jeremy fell and dislocated his shoulder and broke his arm at the top of Jacobs Ladder. The weather was atrocious and the team responded rapidly and brought Jeremy quickly down the mountain side to the awaiting ambulance. Your expertise and professionalism was greatly appreciated and very welcome and prevented the situation deteriorating.
Thanks to you all for your help and committment which is greatly appreciated by all walkers out there.
    regards
    Pete
