Carneddau (Wales)

Along with search dogs and handlers from different areas, Search Dog Wren and handler Andy were asked to support the Search and Rescue Dog Association SARDA Wales in the search for a missing person and their dog.

Unfortunately and after an extensive search, the missing person was found but sadly had succumbed to the late winter conditions, their dog survived.

All of our thoughts are with all those involved and the family…

Litton

At approximately 9:30 this morning, some walkers in Tansey Dale leading into Cressbrook Dale heard calls for help.

An initial search by a local Derbyshire police officer was conducted, but due to several caves and steep crags, the team was requested to assist.

Team members were asked to make their way to Litton and the temporary search control location.

Given the terrain, three search dogs were requested, two from Edale Mountain Rescue Team. Hope with handler Bart and Dottie with handler John.

Topley Pike

A group of visitors to the Peak District National Park set off from Topley Pike towards Wye Dale for a walk along the Monsal Trail. Unfortunately, while descending a steep, muddy and slippery path, one member of the group suffered a painful ankle dislocation.

The East Midlands Ambulance Service crew were the first to arrive on the scene. When the team members arrived at the Topley Pike layby, they quickly gathered the appropriate equipment and headed down to the casualty site.

Hoffman Quarry

Called out by East Midland Ambulance Service to assist with a casualty that had fallen and injured themselves near the Blue Lagoon.

Team members carried kit up to the casualty site, and escorted the paramedics there.

The casualty was treated by East Midland Ambulance Service, their leg splinted, then they were placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to the road head and transferred to a waiting ambulance.

Millers Dale

Team called to a person who had been walking with friends and slipped on a steep path.  They unfortunately injured their knee and were unable to walk on it. 

We attended along with East Midland Ambulance Service. We splinted the casualties leg before they were transferred to a mountain rescue stretcher for a short carry out to the car park and waiting ambulance.

Derbyshire Police asked our Drone Team to support them with searching for a missing person.

Rainow 

Tasked by Derbyshire Police to locate a farmer who had gone out on their tractor but had not been contactable for some time. Macclesfield based team members Rendezvous’ed at Gin Clough Farm. The roads were blocked by deep snow from the Farm upwards so the section of six members walked to the grid reference given by the Farmer approximately 4km away. The Farmer was located in his tractor, cold and tired by otherwise safe and well. The lane the tractor was in had been blocked by an abandoned Landrover and deep drifts of snow. …
