The team joined forces with Edale Mountain Rescue (EMRT) to a casualty who had fallen and injured their ankle. The casualty was given pain relief, their leg splinted, and carried down to the road head and waiting ambulance.

Just as team members were conducting the monthly first aid kit checks at Dove base, a call came through along with Edale Mountain Rescue Team for an incident involving a paraglider on Mam Tor.

Thankfully, it became clear that although the paraglider had landed heavily they were able to walk away from the scene albeit after being checked by a team paramedic.

Team members who were walking up to the summit of Mam Tor with the equipment turned around and were able to enjoy the lovely sunset as they descended back …

The team was called to a climber that had fallen from the route, Saul’s Crack on the Upper Tier of the Roaches.

Mobile 1, the team’s Hilux was driven up the track from Roaches Gate to just below Rockhall Cottage, where team equipment was deployed from the vehicle and carried to the crag.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity were already on scene when the team arrived and were providing medical treatment to the casualty below the crag.

The second callout saw the team heading back into the Goyt Valley. This time to Goyt Lane, with team members rendezvousing in the car park. The casualty was located on the footpath in the Beet Moor area, above the discussed railway line and tunnel.

East Midland Ambulance Service were already on scene and due to the location of the casualty, requested assistance to extract them to the ambulance.

The team was called to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service which was treating a walker who had taken a nasty tumble on the steep path at Errwood Dam, which resulted in facial injuries, suspected fractured ribs and a lower leg injury.

The casualty was placed onto the team’s stretcher and transferred to the ambulance.

The team was called by East Midlands Ambulance Service, to assist a crew with the extraction of a walker who had sustained an ankle injury in the Hoffman Quarry area of Harper Hill, Buxton.

As team members and response vehicles arrived we were stood down as the ambulance was able to access the casualty’s location directly.

The team was alerted to an injured walker on Parkhouse Hill by a Peak District National Park Ranger. The casualty was descending over one of the rocky limestone scrambles when a dislodged rock from above hit her on the head.

The rock caused a cut to the rear of the head, but thankfully the casualty did not lose consciousness.

The walker was administered first aid by a passer-by who bandaged the wound and was cared for by the Ranger until the team arrived.

Whilst team members were enjoying a spring-like afternoon, we were contacted to respond to a fallen climber at the Roaches.

The climber had taken a fall from Right Route on the Upper Tier and landed at the base of the climb.

Three response vehicles and 18 operational team members responded.

On arrival at the casualty site, we were met by Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and West Midlands Ambulance Service, who had administered pain relief to make the climber more comfortable.

The team were asked to support Cheshire Search and Rescue in one of their search operations in Macc Forest.

This was joint work with Cheshire Search and Rescue and Cheshire Rural Crime Team.

The team’s drone section was deployed yesterday, at the request of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, to a large moorland fire above Glossop.

Under the control of newly-qualified drone pilot Henry, with spotter Mel, the drone flew over the incident site providing fire officers with an overview of the incident, identifying hotspots and allowing them to plan their next moves.

The blaze had affected a large area of moorland and steep ground but, thanks to the efforts of all those involved in the firefighting effort, was safely extinguished….
