Duffield area

Search dog Zak, along with his handler, was called to assist Derby Mountain Rescue Team to search for a missing lady near Duffield.

As the Dog team were beginning their search, the elderly lady was located by a police patrol, and the search was stood down.

Allestree Park, Derby

Search dogs, Megan and Zak, along with their handlers, joined members of Derby MRT to search for a missing man around Allestree Park.

The 40 year old man’s car had been found at an access point to the park and police, concerned for his safety, called on Derby team to carry out a search of the area.

The man was located, deceased, in thick woodland.

Dronfield

Search dog Megan, and her handler, Dave, along with five other search dog teams called to assist Edale MRT with a search for a man from the Dronfield area.

The 72 year old male had last been seen at 1530 the previous afternoon. The operation was later expanded to include both Derby and Woodhead MRTs. The man was located by a search dog team from Glossop MRT. He was alive but injured.

The man was treated by team medics before being evacuated to hospital for further treatment.

Carsington Water, Staffs.

Search dogs, Megan and Zak, along with their handlers, and 26 members of Derby MRT called to search for a missing man around Carsington Water.

The 42 year old man had last been seen near Millfields car park the previous night. His vehicle was still parked there the following day causing police to become concerned for his safety, and leading to the decision to call on the team to carry out a thorough search of the area. The dogs were tasked to clear woodland and reservoir banks whilst Derby MRT members were tasked to clear other areas which included the reservoir …

Heaton Prk area, Manchester

Search dog, Zak, and his handler, Nick, along with 3 other dog teams called to assist Oldham MRT, and Rossendale and Pendle MRT with a search in the Heaton Park area of Manchester.

The missing person was a 73 year old male. One of the other dog teams located the male within the search area, sadly deceased.

Hinkley, Leicester

Buxton Search and Rescue Dogs were called from a fund-raising event in Bakewell to assist Derby Team to search for a vulnerable male who had gone missing in the Hinkley area of Leicester.

After travelling 70 miles to the rendezvous, the search dogs worked with the Derby team to search the area and concluded their search at midnight having not located the missing man.

Police enquiries are continuing.

Shining Tor

A search dog and handler were tasked to join the team on a call-out to look for a group of overdue teenagers on a Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

The dog team were finishing a SARDA training exercise when the call came. They were stood down en-route when it was clear the party had been safely located.

Buxton Search Dogs called out to Dronfield, to assist Edale MRT & Derby MRT continue the previous day’s search for a missing person.

The person was not located within the areas searched.

Police are continuing with their enquiries.
