Buxton and Kinder mountain rescue teams called to Pyms Chair to assist in the evacuation of a 61 year old female who had fallen in the Cats Tor area and sustained a wrist injury. Early reports indicated also a reduced level of consciousness.   The teams were stood down on arrival as passing walkers and paramedics had assisted the casualty and walked her down the ridge footpath to Pym Chair. She was then transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.

Buxton mountain rescue team called following reports of a fallen climber. A 59 year old male from Newthorpe, Nottinghamshire had completed climbing Meditation on Chee Tor and abseiled off.   He had doubled his rope but one tail of the rope was not long enough and he abseiled off the rope and fell approx 10 metres sustaining  chest, arm and head injuries. Buxton mountain rescue team were called from Chatsworth to assist Edale team to treat a 30 year old male climber who had fallen from the Barlborough area. He was climbing in the Bishops Wall area when he fell; his protection failed and he hit the bottom of the crag,  sustaining a compound elbow injury, spinal and pelvic injuries. He was treated on site by mountain rescue doctors and air ambulance paramedics, packaged and evacuated by stretcher to the waiting helicopter at Hooks Carr.  He was then flown to the Chesterfield Royal …

Team members returning from training rendered first aid to a female who had been injured when the car she was passenger in struck a second vehicle which had lost control and spun in the road.  The female sustained head and facial injuries and was treated until the arrival of the ambulance service.

Buxton team called to assist a party of seven who had been descending into Lathkill Dale, when a 38 year old female, from Watnall, Nottinghamshire, slipped on the wet limestone and fell sustaining injuries to both her ankles.  Unfortunately she fell onto her 14 year old daughter who sustained a knee injury, both were immobile.  They were both treated on site by one of the team doctors and loaded onto both team stretchers.  As there were 2 casualties, Edale Team were also called to assist with the evacuations.  Both …

Buxton team members marshalling a fell race in the Goyt Valley were alerted that a male in his late 40’s was apparently unconscious in a car at Pyms Chair.  Buxton Mobile 1 attended the scene, updated Derbyshire police directly using the Airwave radio system which the team is trialling and attempted to gain access to the vehicle which had been locked from the inside.  Upon the arrival of the ambulance, entry had to be forced and the unconscious male was transferred to the waiting ambulance for stabilisation and further treatment….

Buxton Edale snatch squad backed up by Glossop were called to Fairholmes, Upper Derwent after two walkers from a group of five from Norwich had walked to a local farm and called for assistance when a 24 year old female in the group sustained an ankle injury walking in the Ravens Clough area.  The two other group members stayed on site, erecting  a tent and keeping the casualty warm.

Buxton and Edale teams following a request for assistance from a family of 4 from Long Eaton who had set off on a circular walk of the Southern Edges. The party became concerned when the weather closed in and their 1 year old became cold and unwell.  Telephone contact between the party and mountain rescue narrowed the potential search area down to above and East of Edale. Buxton Edale Snatch Squad called to evacuate a 13 year old girl from Birmingham, who was attending a summer camp in Edale. She was walking with others when she tripped and injured her ankle, immobilising her.
The girl was located by members of the mountain rescue team on Peat Moor, South West of the summit of Grindslow Knoll.   Her injuries were assessed and treated on site, and then she was evacuated by stretcher to an air ambulance and flown to the Chesterfield …
