A multi team and dog search for a missing despondent male whose car had been located at Snake Summit.  Buxton team rendezvoused at 5.00 pm and searched until after dark but nothing was found.  Search to continue the following day using local teams.

Three Shires Bridge, Derbyshire, Cheshire & Staffordshire

A Buxton team call-out to assist the ambulance service dealing with an 11 year old boy who had fallen from a rope swing sustaining upper arm injuries.

Three Shires Bridge is a remote beauty spot with no easy access and although an air-ambulance was known to be en-route, it was thought landing might be a problem.  The rescue team was grateful for the permission of a local farmer for use of his yard and to allow the team Land Rover to drive over his land with the response equipment.  However, just as the team was arriving at the casualty site, the youth was being loaded …

Ringing Roger, Kinder

A Buxton Edale snatch squad was tasked to an incident in the Edale area.

A 15 year old girl from Bedford was walking with her family who were on holiday in the area. Between Ringing Roger and the Nab on Kinder Scout, she suffered an injury to her ankle which immobilised her.

She was treated on site by a mountain rescue doctor, including splinting and pain relief, placed on a stretcher and carried for more than 1 kilometre to the ambulance in Edale Village.  She was then transferred to the Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for further treatment.

Stanage

A Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams joint snatch squad is called to the climbing edge of Stanage near Hathersage.

A 19 year old male sustained injuries to his ankle whilst bouldering below the edge.  He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics and then evacuated by stretcher to the waiting ambulance at the roadside, for onward transferr to hospital.

Castle Naze, Combs

A full team callout for Buxton MRT following a report to the ambulance service of a climber having fallen from Castle Naze between Combs and Dove Holes. 

The incident, being so close to the rescue team’s base, made for a fast response and backed up East Midlands Ambulance staff already on scene.  The casualty, a 39 year old male from Leamington Spa, had fallen some 15 metres from a route believed to graded at HVS sustaining lower leg and head injuries.

A joint Edale & Buxton Snatch Squad callout following a report of a woman having sustained an injury whilst abseiling from the bridge on the old railway track. 

By the time teams arrived the casualty was in a position accessible to East Midlands Ambulance staff and the rescue teams were stood down.

Great Shacklow Woods, Sheldon

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called following a report to the ambulance service of an accident in Shacklow Woods.  The exact location of the casualty was unclear but was quickly located with the assistance of team searchdog Zak.

A 15 yearold female from Bredbury, Stockport,was part of a youth group on expedition and had aggravated an old knee injury when she slipped on a steep footpath.  The girl was treated on site by paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service before being carried over a kilometre by team members to an ambulance waiting at Sheldon.

Kinder Scout, Southern Edges

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the Upper Booth area, near Edale on Saturday afternoon, following reports of an injured walker.   The location of the casualty was unclear, but thought to be above Jacobs Ladder.

We located a 20 year old male from Sheffield, taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh award expedition.  He had slipped and sustained a suspected fracture/dislocation to his left ankle.

The youg man was treated on site by team personnel, including splinting and pain relief, and placed on a stretcher for the manual evacuation of some 1.5 kilometers to Lee Farm in Upper Booth. From …
