Incident report

The busy time continued for Buxton Mountain Rescue team on Saturday 8th August with the first of three call outs coming in just after midday.

Just as team members were enjoying some lunch, they were tasked by Derbyshire Constabulary, to assist an injured person on the side of Winnats Pass. The walker had been descending the grassy path at the side of Winnats Pass when they fell and injured their lower leg.

Team members quickly arrived and made their way up the hill to assist. The casualty was assessed before being given pain relief. An injury to a leg meant that splinting and immobilisation were required, with the casualty then placed on a mountain rescue stretcher. They were then carried down the hillside to the car park at Speedwell Cavern, to be driven to a hospital for further investigations.

We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
