Incident report

The large number of visitors enjoying the Peak District National Park continues to create a busy time for the mountain rescue teams in the area.

A walker, out for the day with the family, fell while descending the permissive footpath from Backtor to Castleton. The tumble resulted in the casualty sustaining a lower leg injury. As usual for mid week call outs, a joint team snatch call out procedure was initiated with members from both Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Team being called to the scene.

Team members provided the initial medical assessment and treatment The casualty was then carried on a mountain rescue stretcher back to the valley floor and handed over to the care of our colleagues at East Midlands Ambulance Service, for onward transportation to hospital.

We wish the casualty a swift recovery and a quick return to enjoy the attractions of the Park.
