Incident report

The Rescue Team were called out again to the Goyt valley to help a local dog walker who had tripped sustaining a bang on the head and an upper arm injury. Thankfully one of the walkers was a nurse and was able to assess the situation and identify the need for help from the emergency services and made a 999 call.

As the location was some distance from the road, the nurse also knew that mountain rescue assistance would be needed so this was requested at the same time. East Midlands Ambulance Service were soon on scene, with Buxton Mountain Rescue Team following closely behind.

While the paramedics assessed the casualty, BMRT prepared equipment to carry the patient to the ambulance. However, it soon became apparent that it would be possible for the casualty to get into the back of one of the team 4×4 vehicles and be driven to the road.

The patient was soon in the ambulance for further observation and transfer to hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him out and about walking his dog again.
