Incident report

The Snatch Squad from Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams was called toTreak Cliff  March 2016 the steep hillside above Treak Cliff Cavern, Castleton to assist a paraglider.

The paraglider landed hard after his canopy had collapse sustaining some potentially serious injuries.  The pilot, from the Coventry area, was assessed by rescue team members and an Edale MRT doctor before being given strong painkillers for the evacuation from the hillside by stretcher.  Given the position of the incident site, the stretcher was sledged down the steep grass using a safety rope and finally carried to the waiting Air Ambulance.
