Incident report

Mountain rescue was called to Higger Tor following a report that a female that had fallen approx 10-15ft on rocky ground.

The casualty, an experienced outdoor instructor from Chapel en le Frith, was leading a group of students when she fell.  She landed heavily on a rock and the resulting damage to her ribs she was creating breathing difficulties. Edale MRT members were first to respond followed by local colleagues from Buxton MRT.

As the mist fell around Higger Tor, one of the group had made their way to the roadside to direct members.  Following examination by an Edale team doctor, she was treated for possible rib fractures, given IV pain relief, and the placed in a vacuum mattress.  She was than carried back to the road for transfer to hospital in Stockport.
