Chee Tor, Chee Dale

A three hour epic rescue started with two separate 999 calls to police and ambulance services reporting that a climber had fallen 15 metres from Chee Tor into the river Wye in Chee Dale.   An ambulance, a paramedic car, Debyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air-ambulance and a crew from Buxton Fire & Rescue Service were all called together with Buxton Mountain Rescue team.

Lathkill Dale

Twenty two members of Buxton Mountain Rescue team responded to an evening call out to assist a 72 year old gentleman who had suffered a severe ankle injury in a remote part of Lathkill Dale, near Monyash.  East Midlands Ambulance Service had received the call from the son of the injured party who had to climb some distance out of the dale to get a cell-phone signal.  On arrival of the team at Haddon Grove Farm the ambulance crew had still been unable to locate the casualty and team members entered the dale …

Bleaklow and the Derwent valley

Search Dog Handler, Dave Mason with Megan called with five other search dogs to assist Woodhead, Glossop and Edale mountain rescue teams in a search for two males from Nottingham.   The two men (32 & 17 years) had started from the North side of Bleaklow in a hunt for aircraft wrecks but became lost with the onset of darkness.  The pair contacted the police about 8.00 pm to report their problem and the call-out commenced in very wet and windy conditions.  Members of Edale MRT eventually found the men on the Eastern …

Hen Cloud, Upper Hulme, Staffs

The team was called by Staffordshire Police to a rock climbing incident on Hen Cloud near the Roaches involving a 27 year old male from Beeston in Nottinghamshire.  The man had been climbing with a friend on a V. Diff. route known as Ancient when he fell and, despite attempts by his belayer to break his fall, he struck the ground. 

Staffordshire Ambulance Service dispatched local emergency responders followed by a land ambulance and, shortly afterwards, an air ambulance.  Staffordshire police were also in attendance at the incident which is believed to have occurred about 3.40pm.

Fairholmes, Upper Derwent Valley

Buxton and Edale joint team snatch squad called to rendezvous at Fairholmes National Park Briefing Centre following the report of a 51 year old man having collapsed.  The casualty, who was with a small group of friends, was very quickly located but despite the best attempts of team doctors to revive the man, the casualty was declared to have died at the scene.

The team extends its thanks to the walkers and others who had assisted prior to the arrival of team members.    Our sincere condolences are offered to all the gentleman’s family and friends.
