Black Rocks, Wirksworth

Search Dog, Megan, together with Search Dog, Biscuit, from Buxton, and Edale MR teams respectively, were requested to assist Derby MRT with a search of Black Rocks following a report from two walkers who were lost and without lighting.

Derbyshire Police helicopter was also deployed which quickly located the couple who were escorted to the safety of the roadside.

Plum Buttress, Chee Dale

On a dark evening, police alerted Buxton Mountain Rescue Team that a rock climber in Chee Dale had reported loosing contact with his two friends.  The climbers were on the classic Plum Buttress and, although it was thought that the two young men had completed the route, they had disappeared in the darkness. 

A small search party entered Chee Dale from Miller’s Dale to drive through the tunnels whilst another went to Topley Pike lay-by on the A6, the nearest road access to the top of Plum Buttress.   The three climbers soon emerged …

Ladybower Reservoir

Buxton search dogs, Cap and Megan, were both called together with three other search dogs to assist Derbyshire and Yorkshire police forces in the search for a missing vulnerable male from Sheffield.  Edale and Glossop rescue teams were also called after police had found a vehicle belonging to the missing person in the Baslow area.  Despite an intense seven hour search nothing was found and police enquiries are continuing.

Flint Clough, Lightwood Reservoir

Buxton team called to Flint Clough above Lightwood Reservoir near Buxton to assist a female walker who had fallen 25 feet from a crag.  The lady had been with friends and was negotiating a stile when she fell down the crag side into a heather gully. 

An East Midlands Paramedic was first to be called who quickly escalated the call-out when it was clear how remote the incident site was.   Local team members were immediately available but others had to travel from a fundraising event at Chatsworth House, near Bakewell.

Bottoms Reservoir, Longdendale

Four Peak District SARDA dogs including Buxton’s Megan were called late on a cold and very wet night to assist Glossop MRT in the search for a vulnerable female from Sheffield.

Police had located the missing woman’s car near to Bottoms Reservoir close to Glossop and Glossop MRT, a PDMRO water search team and a RAF Search & Rescue helicopter were all called out.

The woman was located about 05.00 hours by M.R. team members not far from the road.  She had been submerged and was very cold but otherwise unharmed.
