Kinder Scout

For the third consecutive day, a Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue team snatch squad was called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service. Today, we were called to Edale following reports of an injured walker on Kinder Scout.

Some team members were deployed to the top of Ollerbrook Clough. However, as the Air Ambulance was able to land close by the incident site, its crew was first on scene. The crew treated a 46 year old female from Newark, Nottinghamshire for wrist injuries.

She was flown to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment.

Hollins Cross

Buxton and Edale Rescue Teams called to near Hollins Cross, Castleton to assist a female with a suspected lower leg fracture. Team members carried the casualty to the Derbyshire Leicesterhire and Rultland Air Ambulance for onward transfer to hospital

St. Buryan, Cornwall

Search dog Megan, and her handler were called to assist Cornwall Search and Rescue Team with the search for a 43 year old vulnerable male in the St Buryan area.

The search also involved air assets from RNAS Culdrose and local HM Coastguard rescue teams. It was concluded in the evening when the male was located safe and well outside of the initial search area.

Higger Torr

An Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called to Higger Tor, near Hathersage, in the afternoon to assist the ambulance service.

A 50 year old female from Ironville, near Ripley, had slipped whilst walking and sustained a lower leg injury, which immobilised her.

She was treated on site by Edale team medics, which included pain relief and splintering the injured leg. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance also attended but was later tasked elsewhere. St. Trudy, Cornwall

Search Dog, Megan, and handler were called to assist Cornwall Search and Rescue Team with a search around the village of St. Tudy.

A vulnerable male had been reported missing at 2000 the previous night. As local police enquiries had failed to locate him, a search was started. This was stood down at 1800 without a find.

Joint enquiries with police and Penisula Mountain and Cave Rescue Association (PENMaCRA) continue.
