Great Ridge

A Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called to Castleton, following reports of a collapsed walker.

The incident had occurred on the Great Ridge between Back Tor and Lose Hill. Due to the nature of the incident and location the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance also attended, and being able to land close by the incident site, dealt with the casualty.

The person was then flown to hospital, and the Buxton team was stood down en-route to the incident.

Errwood Reservoir

On Wednesday afternoon Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was requested to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service in the Goyt Valley.

A 67 year old male from Bollington had collapsed whilst fishing at Errwood Reservoir. He was treated on site by the ambulance services paramedics and recovered from the shoreline on a stretcher by team personnel to the roadside.

The casualty was then transferred to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.

Castle Naze

An evening call-out for a 19 year old female from Beeston, Nottinghamshire. She was solo climbing in the corner arête area and came off, falling some 25 feet to the ground.

The casualty sustained shoulder and lower leg injuries, and was treated on site by the ambulance service paramedics. She was then placed onto a stretcher and evacuated by the team to the road side and transferred into the waiting ambulance which took her to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.

Peak Cavern, Castleton

An Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue snatch squad was called to Peak Cavern, Castleton, to assist the ambulance service.

A lady had slipped and sustained an ankle injury in the entrance to the show cave. The ambulance crew were able to access the casualty and the team were stood down en-route.

Harpur Hill area, Buxton

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team, together with three Search and Rescue dogs were called to assist the police in locating a missing person in Buxton on Sunday.

The missing person was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Harpur Hill area. The team and dogs were tasked to search more than a mile square of open fields and woodlands to the west of Harpur Hill, adjoining Grinlow Woods. The terrain was variable, ranging from open grassland, woodlands and steep sided dales with rocky outcrops.
