Whilst fundraising in Buxton on Bank Holiday Monday, the team was called to recover a dog which had jumped over a bridge wall on the Monsal Trail near to the Rusher Cutting.

The dog had fallen some 30 metres into Chee Dale and was lying injured on a ledge. Whilst en-route we were informed the dog had succumbed to its injuries and passed away.

Two climbers had recovered the dog to the Monsal Trail by the time we arrived, leaving us to transport the dog and its owners to their car at Wye Dale for onward journey home.

The team was called to assist the West Midlands Ambulance Service with a fallen climber at the Roaches, near Leek. The initial report indicated the climber had not fallen to the bottom of the crag but was hanging about half way down.

On our arrival we located the climber, a 24 year old male from the Norwich area, visiting the Peak District over the Bank Holiday weekend. For the last 6 years Buxton Mountain Rescue Team have been providing help and support to Wilmslow Running Club with an annual fell race in the Goyt Valley. It is usually without incident.

This year, 22 members attended the race control at Errwood Sailing Club and manned the 10 marshalling points on this years course around Fernilee Reservoir and Taxal areas. The race covers 10 kilometres along tracks and paths. Nearly 200 runners were taking part in this event.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called to Barber Booth, near Edale, following reports of an injured walker at Pagoda Rocks, on Kinders Southern Edges.

We knew the casualty was a female who had sustained a lower leg injury. As team members were arriving at the car park, we were made aware that our neighbouring team, Kinder MRT were undertaking some training on Kinder Scout. We contacted them and asked if they would be available to deal with this incident as they were already in the area. They agreed and Buxton MRT were stood down.

Both Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams were called to Cressbrook on Thursday afternoon.

A 62 year old male, walking with his wife in Cressbrook Dale, had collapsed on a very wet and muddy path. He was treated on site for a medical emergency by ambulance service paramedics.

Following on-site treatment, he was placed into a casualty bag, loaded onto our lightweight Titan stretcher, and then carried nearly half a kilometre by mountain rescue personnel to the tarmac track where he was transferred into the waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
