Golden Clough, Kinder

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist walkers who had lost their bearings in early darkness, heavy rain, low cloud and wind along the southern edges of Kinder.

A search dog unit from Edale aso joined the search for two adults from the Derby area, and their pet dog. As all the rivers were in spate, a specialist water unit was deployed in addition to the usual search sections.

Hollins Cross, Castleton

A second incident for the day for a joint Buxton Edale snatch squad, this time to a person on the Great Ridge at Hollins Cross.

Whilst sorting out equipment at base from an earlier incident, Buxton team received a request together with Edale MRT. However, within a few minutes, another incident had developed, and Buxton were diverted to focus on that instead.

Grindsbrook Clough

A joint Buxton Edale snatch squad was called to Edale around lunchtime for an injured walker on the Kinder plateau.

The casualty, a 20 year old male from Marple, had a suspected dislocation of the knee. He was treated on site by an Edale team doctor and then carried off the hill via Grindslow Knoll on a stretcher by team members.

The casualty was transferred to paramedics of a waiting land ambulance in Edale, and transported to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport for further treatment

Burbage Moor

Search dogs requested to assist Edale MRT search for a vulnerable female on Burbage Moor.

They were stood down en-route when the missing person was located by a police unit on an adjacent road.

Roach End

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the Roaches at dusk following a call to assist an injured walker.  The team travelled to Roach End and carried out a speedy footpath search between there and Luds Church.

We soon located a 65 year old lady from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. She had been walking in Gradbach Wood with her sons when she slipped and sustained a suspected fracture/dislocation of her ankle.  One of her sons alerted the staff at Gradbach Youth Hostel who then initiated the call for assistance. A local first responder and police officer arrived on scene just prior to the …
