Macclesfield Forest

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to Macclesfield Forest to assist North West Ambulance Service dealing with a mountain biker who had sustained a painful knee injury on Nessit Hill.

Fifteen team members responded to the call and helped to provide first aid and splinting to the casualty.  The casualty, a middle aged man from Buxton, was then loaded on to a rescue stretcher and carried out of the forest to a waiting ambulance.

Sheldon

Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams’ Joint Snatch Squad responded when East Midlands Ambulance Service reqested assistance with a casualty near to the village of Sheldon.

The casualty was an adult female who sustained an injury to her upper arm.  After treatment on scene she was carried by stretcher along a footpath and across a field for a few hundred metres to a waiting road ambulance.

The ambulance transported her to a hospital in Chesterfield for further attention.

Hartshorn, Kinder Scout

A long night search in freezing conditions was rewarded when a 38 year old lady from Doncaster was located by the rescue teams and brought to safety by an RAF Seaking helicopter.

A Buxton Team dog unit was used to clear land surrounding Edale station and car park.

Hartshorn, Kinder Scout

A long night search in freezing conditions was rewarded when a 38 year old lady from Doncaster was located by the rescue teams and brought to safety by an RAF Seaking helicopter.

The alarm was raised about 8.30 pm when the lady was reported missing and her car was located in Edale.   Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and Edale Mountain Rescue Team were both called to commence a search of the southern edge of Kinder Scout.  The weather, although fine, was very cold with a strong wind reducing the air temperature to well below freezing.  Concern was growing for the lady’s …

Gradbach, Forest Wood

Nineteen members of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team responded when West Midlands Ambulance Service called for assistance at an incident in Forest Wood near Gradbach, Staffordshire.              A mature lady from Duffield, Derbyshire, had been walking with her husband when a slip resulted in a suspected fractured ankle.  The lady was treated by a paramedic from W.M.A.S and team members before being loaded onto a rescue stretcher.
