Penistone, South Yorks

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to make plans in order to assist South Yorkshire Police with a major search for a vulnerable 10 year child missing in the Penistone district.

Buxton and all other PDMRO teams, together with the Search and Rescue Dog Association  were asked to provide as many members as possible for a 07.00 rendezvous on the following day.  Woodhead MRT  and several search dogs were already committed to searching through the night.

Buxton MRT had eighteen members available for the morning search but fortunately the child was found safe and well by police shortly after the request was received.

Chee Dale

Eighteen members of the Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams’ Joint Snatch Squad were called to Chee Dale near to Chee Tor stepping stones following reports of an injured rock climber.  The 31 year old man from Sheffield had been reaching upwards when his shoulder dislocated.  His climbing partner was able to lower him to the river side path but the pain prevented him from walking any distance.

East Midlands Ambulance Service was first on scene with a paramedic able to render pain relief to the casualty.  The …

Whitemoor Cloughs, Edale Valley

Seventeen members of the Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams’ Snatch Squad were called following reports of a walker with leg injuries near Dale Head bunkhouse at the west end of the Edale Valley.

The casualty was part of a group originating from Coventry but staying at a bunkhouse in Nether Booth.  A further update established her position as being higher on to the moor than was first thought and easier access was gained using the Chapel Gate Track.  Team members treated the casualty on site …

Mam Tor Ridge

A Buxton Search Dog unit was asked to join the team in searching for a child who had become separated from the family group.

The dog team was stood down en-route when the missing child was safely located.

Mam Tor Ridge

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following the report of a 7 year old having become separated from his family on a walk along the ridge line.  Despite frantic efforts by the family the boy could not be found and so a call to the police was made.

Buxton team responded sending team members along the ridge from Mam Tor towards Hollins Cross and some in the opposite direction towards Lord’s Seat.  Team vehicles also patrolled the roads.
