Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called out in probably the worst conditions of the winter so far.  A group of five adults had been on Kinder Scout since lunch time when one of the party started to suffer cramp.  Their intended route off the moor was to descend Crowden Brook but icing made it look too risky and they headed back towards Grindsbrook instead.  As they approached the head of Grindsbrook the pain from the cramp got worst and the man was unable to continue.

Pilsbury

The ongoing winter conditions continued to cause chaos on minor roads when another five inches of snow fell overnight in the Peak District.  Buxton team was called to assist a 68 year old gentleman from the remote hamlet of Pilsbury, near Hartington.  His 4 x 4 had become trapped in the snow and he then spent the next two hours sheltering in a barn.

The team responded with just two members in a Land Rover and managed to collect the gentleman and take him safely home.
