The Roaches, Staffordshire

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist West Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a fallen climber at The Roaches.

A 24 year old man on a visit to the Peak District from Southampton had fallen from a boulder sustaining a suspected fracture to the leg.  Initial treatment was by ambulance staff before the casualty was placed onto a rescue stretcher for a gentle carry to where the West Midlands Air-ambulance had been able to land.  He was then flown to a North Staffordshire hospital for treatment.

Back Tor Farm, Edale Valley

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with Edale MRT following a  report of a female fell runner from Cumbria who had collapsed near to Back Tor Farm in the Edale Valley.

The runner had been competing on a long distance fell race on a warm and sunny day, and was suffering from the effects of heat and dehydration. Park House Hill, Glutton Bridge

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following a report to police of an elderly man having fallen on the steep side of Park House Hill.

A seventy-four year old man from Bolsover had been walking with a family member when he slipped and tumbled several feet down the steep limestone hillside.   The gentleman sustained a significant head injury and was treated on scene by team members who responded quickly to the call.   Team members continued to care for the man for some time whilst waiting for an East …

Kinder Scout

Team on stand-by relating to a ongoing search of Kinder Scout by other teams for two missing walkers.  Team not deployed but team search-dog handler called together with one other member to navigate for the dog unit.  See Dog Call number 2.

Kinder Scout

Search Dog Megan with handler Dave Mason called to assist with a search of Kinder Scout by Kinder MRT for two lost walkers.  Attempts to use SARLOC (text message locating system) had failed and a helicopter search was ruled out because of bad weather.  Two other Peak District Search Dogs were also involved before the casualties were eventually located near to Crowden Head.

The two were than assisted from the hill by members of Kinder MRT.
