Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with two Search & Rescue Dogs following the report of an elderly lady with her son benighted somewhere in the Lathkill Dale area.

Water-Cum-Jolly

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service with an incident near Litton Mill.

A family on holiday, staying locally in the Litton Mill area were walking alongside the River Wye in Water-Cum-Jolly Dale when they heard  something rushing towards them from the limestone cliffs nearby.  A rock the size of a small football was rolling at speed towards them on the path.  The family group, from Melton, Suffolk, included a 50 year old lady, her husband and a 3 month old child in a pushchair.  The lady instinctively covered the pushchair with her body to protect the child and …

Combs Edge

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of an injured walker on Combs Edge.

The casualty, a 36 year old lady from Manchester, suffered a simple slip resulting in a suspected fracture of the ankle.  Following treatment by team members and an E.M.A.S. paramedic, the lady was carried along the edge towards Castle Naze and down to the waiting ambulance.

Kinder Scout, Edale Head

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with Kinder Mountain Rescue Team when three ladies reported themselves lost on Kinder Scout.

Buxton team set up Control for the third time in four days at Edale railway station car-park to plan a search of the south western corner of the plateau.  Three ladies, two on holiday from Canada and another from Lincoln, had set off on the first part of the Pennine Way from Edale with the intention of staying the night at Snake Inn.  The party found their way …

Kinder Scout, Southern Edge.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team alerted by Derbyshire police following a 999 call from a man reporting himself lost on Kinder Scout.

The 18 year old student from London, staying locally in the Peak for a few days, had been for a walk on to Kinder Scout from Grindlslow Knoll.  Using a local walks guide leaflet for navigation he made his way along the southern edge of the plateau before becoming disorientated around the Woolpacks area.  After several attempts to locate himself he eventually called for assistance.
